Built-in box for mounting in a wall, ceiling or bad element
The present invention relates to a built-in box for mounting in a wall, ceiling or other element.
When mounting electrical equipment in a wall, in ceilings or other elements, such as in kitchen cabinets, bookshelves, shelves and the like, the mounting usually takes place in a cavity provided in the element using a box or can, hereinafter referred to as a can. The electrical wiring connections are usually led via suitable pipe systems to connection boxes or boxes, whereupon electrical equipment such as lamps, switches, etc. are arranged, for example, as a lid on the electrical connection box. Particularly with respect to lamps, the socket is usually arranged in a wiring connection extending through an opening in the lid of the electrical junction box, in such a way that there is a physical distance between the electrical junction box and the lamp socket. In the case of other types of lamps, in particular in the case of so-called built-in spotlights, a blind ceiling is arranged at a distance from the underside of a horizontal floor separation between two floors. Holes are drilled in the ceiling in which the spotlights are arranged. On the upper side of the blind ceiling, the cable connections are led to junction boxes, which are attached to the underside of the horizontal floor separation, so that the built-in spotlights can be supplied with electrical energy. An example of such a junction box is described in US6168299.
Another example according to the prior art is described in the applicant's previous international patent application WO2005059435, according to which an apparatus suitable for installation in a ceiling or the like comprising a housing is described, wherein the housing has a lower cylindrical section and a lid mounted at one end. of the cylindrical section, the opposite end of the cylindrical section being open. On the outer periphery of the cylindrical section a number of projecting spring means are arranged for fixing and holding the apparatus in the desired place.
In buildings where a recessed blind ceiling cannot be fitted, means may be inserted at the rear of the blind ceiling for the purpose of accommodating the built-in spotlights. A number of factors must be taken into account when providing such a construction. Among other things, insulation located immediately on / by the blind ceiling, as well as a moisture barrier (moisture barrier foil) must be taken into account, and appropriate measures must be taken to ensure that the moisture barrier (moisture barrier foil) remains intact, as well as DK 2010 00167 U4 as the insulation must be correctly arranged around the built-in spotlight holder.
A further problem associated with built-in spotlights relates in particular to the heat generated from halogen light sources, which are dominant in interior design, especially in department stores and shops. In order to minimize the risk of fire, it is desirable to ensure that the temperature behind the halogen light sources does not reach a level where there will be a real risk of ignition of combustible material present in the vicinity of built-in halogen spotlights. Usually, the manufacturers of built-in halogen spotlights state that combustible material must not be placed closer than 50 cm from such luminaires in order to avoid a risk of fire. From some suppliers of electrical equipment, the corresponding clays are that the temperature in the vicinity of the electrical equipment is not allowed to exceed 90 ° C in order not to damage the electrical equipment and thereby make the electrical equipment a source of fire hazard.
15
An apparatus according to the prior art comprising means for cooling the electrical equipment is described in US5664872. This apparatus comprises two sections to be connected so that the electrical connections are first completed, and then a fan unit is attached to the junction box, where upon activation the fan 20 brings air to pass past the electrical installation. The junction box is arranged to be seated in, for example, a ceiling, and then the light fixture is mounted by means of a bushing or collar, which can be snap-locked to a flange on the junction box in order to provide such a final impression as is necessary for this. type of installations when installation takes place at an exhibition interior. The installation requires a number of parts, and once the junction box and the electrical wiring connections are located, it is impossible to access the fan unit from the underside of the ceiling. This makes cleaning and maintenance of the unit significantly difficult, as a complete disassembly of the unit is required to gain access to the unit.
30
Furthermore, prior art apparatuses are all designed for use with only a single special type of light source, each prior art apparatus being provided with a single special type of base only. Furthermore, in a number of applications, it is necessary for such equipment for electrical installation to be approved by national authorities, and most manufacturers are therefore reluctant to obtain approval for series of equipment in that case. the prior art suitable for various light sources.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a built-in box suitable for placement in a wall, ceiling, furniture element or other element, in which an electrical installation means, such as a lamp base or the like, can be fixed without the built-in box causing any of the problems or risks listed above. Furthermore, the built-in box must be adaptable for receiving, in a standardized way, different light sources.
The present invention solves this problem by providing a built-in box of the kind mentioned above, wherein the built-in box comprises a housing, the housing comprising a pipe section, an end cover, said end cover and one end of the pipe being provided with releasable collecting means, and wherein the opposite end of the tube is open, and wherein the installation box comprises means arranged externally relative to the tube, and which means are expandable outside the outer periphery of the installation box, and wherein socket means and electrical connecting means are arranged in said end cover.
By arranging separate elements, ie. the tube section and the end cover, it is possible to use the tube section as a standard element for mounting a variety of different types of light natures in that the end cover, which comprises the base and the electrical connecting means, can be selected according to the desired light source. In this way, it is possible to standardize the installation of built-in boxes regardless of the type of light source desired for a particular position. The different types of light sources also require different energy sources in most situations, and therefore, by using a standardized pipe means, the physical mounting in the (receiving) element, for example in a ceiling, wall or the like, can be performed routinely, and the electrical connections can also be established routinely and independently of the energy source that is used in the particular position.
The fastening between the end cover and the pipe can for instance be established in the form of a so-called bayonet connection, where flanges are arranged along a part of the periphery extending from the end cover, and where part of the flanges can be inserted into suitable slots formed at the end. of the pipe, and when rotating the end cap relative to the pipe, the flanges will thereby engage with the pipe end and will thereby securely and reliably hold the pipe relative to the end cap. As an option, adhesives, threads, snap-lock devices, or other fastening means can be arranged between the two elements between the two 4 parts.
In a further advantageous design, the end cover on the side facing away from the interior of the tube is equipped with an electrical connection box, which box can be selected to correspond to the respective required energy, power supply, power or light source.
Typically, authoritative requirements will be set for environmental protection against possible electric shocks, especially when connecting cables are used. To this end, in the presence of a standardized junction box suitable therefor and specifically made for attachment to the end cap, it is possible to use a standard junction box, which may be for any type of connection type, thereby providing a secure and approved construction provided using standard elements, thereby providing the recessed box of the present invention.
In yet another advantageous embodiment, a double hinge is provided, which is pivotally attachable to the end cover, and wherein the hinge comprises flange means for fastening electrical components, such as one or more of: transformers, electrical switches, remote control circuits, cooling or ventilation means.
Since the built-in box provides the possibility of mounting the entire light fixture from the side from which the light is to be visible, only one opening is required, which is only slightly larger than the built-in box. As a result, all components must pass through this opening, which is associated with the installation as such. The double hinge mechanism provides the possibility of using elongate elements, such as a transformer or the like, which, mounted on the hinge means, can pass through the opening in the element prior to the insertion of the built-in box. The hinge mechanism will therefore ensure that components, such as for example an electrical transformer, an electrical switch, a remote control circuit, cooling and / or ventilation means, are located immediately at the back of the element, so that the overall construction height is kept to a minimum.
5 DK 2010 00167 U4
It is also possible to have the fastening of the double hinge arranged on the pipe element.
It appears that the aforementioned electrical components, by being mentioned, are not intended to limit the number or types of electrical components which are suitable for use in connection with the double hinge.
The expandable means established outside the outer periphery of the installation box, for example in the form of resilient means intended for attaching the installation box, do not require special tools, as in some embodiments the resilient means will be deformed when the installation box is placed and when the installation box is reached to take up the final position, the resilient members will deform (flip) back to take up the original position and shape and in this way hold the installation box in position.
Furthermore, by using resilient means, whether these are or are not in the form of 1] honorable elements or in the form of continuous deformable elements or sections in the installation box, a safe and further adaptable fastening method is provided. Since the circumstances regarding building components may vary from installation site to installation site, it provides the advantageous use of resilient means, i.e. of adaptable fasteners, the possibility of a reliable mounting of the built-in box in different materials and under different circumstances. This greatly reduces the risk of installation errors.
In a further advantageous embodiment of the built-in box according to the present invention, a ventilation means is arranged at the end of the built-in box relative to the opening. By arranging ventilation means at the end of the installation box, which is located opposite the opening, the interior of the installation box becomes completely free, and therefore any electrical installation can be installed without interfering with the ventilation means.
In a further advantageous embodiment, the end of the installation box comprises one or more openings for inlet or outlet passage of air to or from the installation box. In order to enable the built-in box to compensate for differences in pressure arising as a result of the ventilation means, openings can be arranged so that the inside of the built-in box is in communication with the ambient air.
6 DK 2010 00167 U4
In a further advantageous embodiment according to the invention, the ventilation means are a fan comprising a ventilation generating means, and where, as an option, the electrical installation power supply also supplies power to the ventilation means.
Fan cooling radiators, such as aluminum ribs, may also be provided for the ventilation generating means. Although condensation often occurs due to cold aluminum surfaces, however, the air flow produced by the fan will transport away any moisture, and as a result condensation problems are avoided.
For low voltage installations, such as those for 12 or 24 volts, it is possible to purchase fans which have a very low energy consumption and which, in order to provide a cooling effect, will be able to produce a adequate airflow. The energy consumption therefor is negligible in comparison with the energy consumption of the light sources, and in addition the extra heat generated by the fan is also insignificant in comparison with the flow of air air which can be conducted through the interior of the installation box. At other voltages, such as 110 volts or 230 volts, either suitable fan means or a transformer can be placed in the circuit so that the fan is supplied with suitable current and voltage. This device thus provides that no additional installations or start-ups will be required in order to supply energy supply to these ventilation means, as the installation box is specially adapted for use in electrical installations, and therefore means will be present in the installation box for provision of electrical energy supply and this will therefore be available for the energy supply of the ventilation generating device.
In a further advantageous embodiment, the side of the end facing away from the opening is provided with spacer means, such as legs, projections, net curves or the like. In circumstances where the built-in box according to the invention is installed in ceilings, where the ceiling construction comprises a visible ceiling cladding, behind which a moisture barrier is arranged, behind which insulation is arranged, such as a soft glass wool, the built-in box is provided with spacers, that there is thereby air available for the fan, in order to produce a cooling air flow down through the built-in box to provide cooling of the electrical installation located inside the built-in box.
These spacers may also comprise a filter so that dust and other particles are not transported into the space via the built-in box.
By using ventilation generating means such as a low voltage fan, which is comparable to the fans usually used in PCs, an advantageous embodiment can be obtained. These types of fans, constantly running at 70 ° C, have an expected service life of up to 200,000 hours. Tests carried out with the present invention have shown that with a design in which a 35 W halogen light source of the Osram Decostar type was placed inside the installation box, the temperature reached above the light source, where it was connected to the connecting wires, and around it, up and stabilized. at 91 ° C applicable to this 35 W halogen light source. After installing a fan of the above type used in PCs, the temperature radiated near the light source was reduced to 54.6 ° C, and around the cabling, the temperature was measured and stabilized at about 32 ° C. The measured temperatures remained , after completion of an initial period, stable during the test run, lasting more than four hours.
Lowering the temperature has a number of beneficial effects. First of all, the expected life of the light source can be increased, and at the same time the risk of fire in the immediate vicinity of the installation is dramatically reduced. Furthermore, by arranging the fan so that the air flow is directed out into the room in which the light is radiated, the heat generated by the light source and by the fan is ventilated out into the room and can be used there for heating. Furthermore, as hot air is lighter than cold air, the amount of hot air produced to achieve a comfortable temperature in the occupancy zone can be reduced, as the light source, due to the presence of the fans, will produce an air circulation in the immediate vicinity of the ceiling, so that the hot air that collects along the ceiling will be forced downward due to the air currents generated by the cooling fans.
In yet another advantageous embodiment according to the invention, the built-in box is equipped with means for fastening electrical installation means, and furthermore that further means are provided to enable the air flow generated by the ventilation means to pass the electrical installation means.

The production is described in more detail below with reference to the drawing, in which: Figs. 1 shows diagrammatically with the parts pulled apart a built-in box, fig. 2 schematically shows a built-in box in assembled condition, and fig. 3 shows a cross section through a built-in box occupying mounted position.
In FIG. 1, with the parts of the built-in box shown pulled apart, there is shown a built-in box designed according to the present invention. The built-in box comprises a pipe element 1, an end cover 2, an electrical connection box 3, flexible and / or resilient expandable member (s) 4, a double hinge construction 5, which in this design is equipped with a transformer 6 as well as a lid part 7. .
The lid part is designed to be mounted when the complete installation box and its connections are installed in place via an opening in an element, so that the lid part 7 will cover the opening and in front of / around the installation box provide an aesthetic appearance in relation to the surroundings.
The tube element 1 may be cylindrically designed, but is not necessarily so, and is in the embodiment shown provided with an opening at both ends, as described in connection with the other drawing figures. The double hinge mechanism 5 is arranged with two hinge points 8, 9, so that hinge flanges 10, 11 are pivotally arranged, so that the flange 11 can be caused to assume a position where it extends in the same direction as the pipe 1. In this way it is possible to install the complete installation through an opening in an element which has a size corresponding to the outside diameter of the pipe 1.
30
In order to fasten the tube 1, flexible fastening means 4 are arranged on the rear side of the element, the fastening means including a resilient member 12 which can be moved outside the periphery of the pipe element 1 and for engaging with the back side of a plate element (not shown).
35 9 DK 2010 00167 U4
The end cover 2 is equipped with a number of flanges 13, 14, which can engage with corresponding recesses in the end top 15 of the pipe element, so that after placing the flange elements 13, 14 in the openings arranged at the end of the pipe element 1 and turning the end plate 2 a strong connection between the end plate 2 and the tube 1.
By assembling the ones with reference to fig. 1 will result in a built-in box as shown in fig. In this embodiment, the number "18" written on the pipe body 1 indicates the thickness of the plate element in which the built-in box can be mounted. With this configuration it is ensured that the transformer 6 will be placed in a substantially horizontal position. This can be adjusted by means of the length of the flange 10 or the length of projections 20 arranged on the second flange 11.
The flange 11 can advantageously be provided with semicircular projections. These serve to prevent the flange from becoming entangled in wires, cables or the like located at the back of the element in which the built-in box is mounted. Also when the built-in box is mounted in wooden ceilings, the projections will function as sledding means, which help the flange and thus the built-in box to pass openings, grooves and the like that may be present on the surface.
With regard to the fastening means 4, it appears that by downward movement of the element 21 the end 22 of the resilient means 23 will co-operate with the fastening means 24 to cause it to protrude beyond the periphery of the tube 1, so that it is possible to engage with the back of the plate member in which the built-in box is to be mounted.
In FIG. 3, an embodiment is shown in which the drying element is shown cut away, so that only the lid part 7, the hinge 5, the transformer 6, the end plate 2, fastening means 4 and the connecting box 3 are visible. The junction box can be adapted to house installations for voltages amounting to 12, 24, 110, 220 or any other voltage value, and in this embodiment is provided with legs 25, so that a distance is maintained between the end plate 2 and the junction box. 3, so that heat generated by the light fixture is not immediately transferred to the electrical connectors.
10 DK 2010 00167 U4
As can further be seen, the lid plate 7 is arranged inside the pipe element (not shown) by means of resilient means in the form of cedars 26, so that variations in the plate thickness "a" can be compensated for by adjusting the distance length by which the lid plate 7 is inserted into the pipe element. 1. Inside the pipe element there may be arranged combs and grooves / grooves in order to hold the resilient members 26 in the desired position. The upper end of the jitter 26 may be provided with a tip. The cam / grooves arranged on the inside of the ear element can be designed as a thread, so that the tips of the springs engage with the thread. When rotating the lid plate, the tips will move up or down depending on the orientation of the threads 10 and the direction of rotation, thereby making it possible to accurately adjust the position of the lid plate relative to the surface in which the built-in box is mounted.
On the underside of the end plate member 2 (when assembled it is on the inside of the tubular element) there may be arranged a suitable base (solder) intended for receiving a desired lighting body, such as a base of type GU 10, which is suitable for serving. as a retaining means for halogen light sources, or for example standard sockets for 220 V.
